Series Podcast: The Economic Crash

Posted November 17th, 2008 by Matt Morgan

requirement_podcast_200.jpgWe are pleased to announce our first Podcast as part of the new series “The Economy and Business Analysis.”

In this Podcast, Keith Barrett joins me as we look at the reality of this world-wide economic crisis, and how business analyst investment aligns with IT spending patterns.  This Podcast reviews the top 3 IT spending trends discussed at Gartner’s ITXpo in October in Orlando, Florida.  Gartner’s ITXpo is the industry’s largest CIO/Director oriented show for the Fortune 500.  Over 6000 people attended this year’s show, and the CIO round-tables where incredibly insightful.

In addition,  Keith and I look at how Requirements optimization (and Business Analyst empowerment) is a key area that directly addresses the top three IT spending trends outlined at the Gartner ITXpo show.      Keith and I look at some public statements from Carnival Cruise line regarding how they chose to purchase a business analyst solutions to help align IT and business in these difficult times.

In closing, we also discuss some developments at RQNG and JonathanBabcock.com.

Great podcast. I forwarded it to my Director and we have been trying to justify a longer time window for requirements analysis and some more headcount. I would like to see a template for a business case if you could share one.
