Agile is still a confusing topic at CIO level

Posted March 10th, 2008 by Matt Morgan

agilelogo.pngAn interesting post at the Agile Software Development blog points to a Stelligent survey that asked a selection of CIOs about their understanding on Agile. Some of the findings:

- 72% of CIO’s said that NO, they did not have a solid understanding of Agile Development Methodologies.

- 72% of CIO’s said YES, they are open to adopting agile methods.

While almost 3 out of 4 CIOs said there were open to adopting Agile methods, the same number (almost 3 out of 4) said they didn’t fully understand what agile is. While agile adoption is rising, we are still early in the curve!

Funny how in the ‘rapidly moving’ world of technology, ‘early in the curve’ always seems to be case six or seven years after the advent of a new methodology.

    Hi All

I am looking at employing a consultant ‘agile CIO’ to help build my organisations IT capability. We are a charity and our requirements are in service delivery and capability building and not in software development. Has anyone else had experience of this and can you point me to any good sites?
